Ive shot mine off in base clear, I havent had any problems. Those directions are over kill, I ran 400 grit over the intake manifold, wax and greased it, shot it with base and then clear coat. I tossed some supercharger and DT860 (REALLY fast drying clear coat hardener and fast drying reducer) and literally drove the car 2 hours later.

Heres a shot of it.

well you can use any paint, but what I used is actually a BMW silver with a clear coat. I wouldnt use the high temp unless you really like one of those colors, you can spray the manifold in anything.

If it was me, I would pay for the powder coat. I seen both, powder coat rocks.

Just my o2.

Agreed the instructions are overkill... I scuffed mine with 320, shot with non-stop sealer, and then base/clear. Came out perfect.

Treat it like any body part of the car first primer, then color, and then clear coat. I had a body shop do mine 3 or 4 years ago and it still looks good. You do not need high heat paint.

Way over kill. I'm a painter and all you'd have to do to it would be sand it with 400grit but I would adhesion promote it with like bull dog adhesion promoter and spray it with what ever your little heart desires. But no need for high temp paint.
