Here are some pics I took of the bottom end and heads. What appears to have happened is that it had a misfire in the driver side rear cylinder which scared up the piston and the back of the head a little. This is also what caused the pushrod to bend which in tern caused the lifter to fail and so on. I'm told that this doesn't necessarily mean there is anything severely wrong with the piston or the head other than the bottom end just needing R&R (around $500 for bearings and rings to be replaced and everything reassembled and checked out). The valves all look good to me (short of getting a valve spring compressor and completely disassembling these heads) and were not nicked in any way I can see from the detonation. The noise was coming from bent pushrods and failed lifters back there, but I was able to get the motor out before any catastrophic damage was caused.
Here is the area on the back of the head where it has some scarring:
Here is the piston where the misfire occurred. Notice that it does go all the way to the top though so it obviously didn't bent the rods and probably didn't hurt the valves either.
All of the other pistons look fine and the piston sleeves look great with no wear grooves at all.
*The swirl marks are just the lighting from the fash
