I am building an ls2 with ls3 top end. I have the block, heads, intake, and rotating assembly. Thats it. I have 3 kids and am on a budget. That budget is as little as i can spend. I am looking for things like covers, lifter trays, accessories, etc. If you have something that you would sell for CHEAP, let me know. I have a brand new ls1/6 style valley cover gasket and bolts, edelbrock header gaskets and the folowing used parts from my 65k H/C/I build: LS1 lifter trays, valley cover, oil pump, ls6 rear coolant blockoffs.

I am not 100% sure on all the differences between the LS2 block and the LS1/6. I also have a set of LS2/LS3 coil brackets of you are in need of them.

No, Gen III valley cover, and gasket set will not work on a Gen IV block -you will need to find Gen IV pieces.
You can find a new Gen IV 4.8L valley cover with gasket set for around $45 shipped on ebay.

Hes going non-DOD. Werent all the Gen IV motors DOD and/or AFM and maybe VVT unless they were true LS3s?

I got him hooked up with the lifters, knock sensors, and crankshaft position sensors, waiting on a decision on lifter buckets. Good guy to deal with!
