Default Idle problem!!!

My idle at cold start sits at 1k. As soon as I start driving around it wants to hang at 1500 when I am at a stop light and even when I blip the throttle like it is hung up, it still wont come down. Funny thing is when I turn the ac on then off the idle goes back to 1k and no problems until I shut the car off and back on. It almost stays in open loop until I kick the vents on then off and then it will finally go into closed loop. I dont have any type of tuning tools but I replaced my IAC valve and it didnt help. Can someone help shed some light with maybe some past experiences or help. I know I do not have any leaks what-so-ever as I checked that. Sounds and seems like an issue with the circuitry or pcm but I am just shooting in the dark. This is getting annoying as hell and I need some help. Thanks!

Did the problem just start happening or was something changed?

i noticed it when my trip mileage kept getting erased everytime I shut the car off. Dont think it is the battery causing that. Whatever trickle voltage powers the memory bank may have an issue.

Sounds like an air leak to me. Check around your PCV hoses. Things like this don't just pop up all of a sudden in a tune.

I have checked everything! and I am certain there are no leaks. It's getting to be a pain in the *** and i really dont want to tune until I get my heads on there. I guess I'll have to live with it until the heads are finished when it will be ready for the tune.

I had a similar thing happen to me with my GTP. I started the car up and it would idle much higher than normal. I kinda figured it was a vacuum leak of some sort, sure enough after digging around a bit I found a hose that had popped near the throttle body.

just a thought but did you check the IAC? I have seen a few time were it comes unplugged or unclipped just enough to cause idle problems

IAC is not the problem it has been swapped and still no dice. I wonder about TPS sensor? Maybe that could be having an effect?

do u have any kind of scanner to check ur tps or any other codes? If you don't u may want to check with a local auto parts store and see if they can run a scan for you. Is your serice engine light on?

Check the output of your alternator. Read of the same and similar proplems on another site and replacing the alternator resolved the problem... Not enough juice.

If nothing has changed, then try cleaning out your TB and IAC. Oil from the pcv can gum it up.

I have cleaned everything throttle body, IAC, TPS port, I think I might take off the throttle body and lightly sand the blade. I dont see any scuffs in the throttle body and it is mechanically operating properly. I might just pull the intake for ***** and giggles. Or I can block off the pcv just to see if blocking off the port on the intake under the throttle body makes a difference. If it does I need to investigate pcv line and if not more than likely pcv line isnt the culprit. It seems to do it more when the vehicle is warm after cold start.

yes but I think maybe the manifold is possibly cracked underneath but I seriously doubt it, the hotter it gets you would think at that point since it's plastic the issue should be less relevant when hot.

can you get a scanner to observe the short term fuel trims and spray a little b-12 around the intake and the throttle body while watching the scan tool if it goes rick you got a leak somewhere. check it out it might help you.
my two cents
