Default 99 LS1 Engine/PCM/Wiring Harness in a 1998 Z28?

Would it be plug n play if I got a 99 Z28 pullout that includes wiring harness and PCM and plugged it into my 98 dash harness? Or would this not work because I know some things did exist in the 98s that dont in the 99s and vice versa, just wondering what would be neccesary to install it.

I do know that 99 PCM on a 98 harness needs modification to the PCM but as far as having everything needed will it just plug n play no problems?

I just swaped a 99 ls1 engine/harness in a 1998 trans am. Only difference from me was the car was a m6 and i was swapping a auto in it. The acc/inside harness should be the same. I did a pinout on the interior harness to the engine/fuse harness... Every pin was the same.

You should be able to use the engine harness and pcm and be ok.
Goodluck

Those arent the pinouts im looking for, I mean the pinouts for the connectors to the dash, I heard that the oil level sensor is the only diff. 2 connectors in dash instead of 3.

I am in the process of doing this as well. The coolant temp sensor is different as well.

Well the coolant temp sensor is different only because the 99+ sensors are fake, they only show an overheating condition, 98 is the only yr that worked so you may wanna try to wire up the 98 coolant sensor instead. The one that talks to the pcm does work though, the gauge is the incorrect part. There are tons of different pieces to be rewired so im going with the 98 wiring and then Im going to try and wire up my 99 off the car so itll be ready for plug n play.

The VATS on the F-bodies, should be pulse width modulated, so the Vin shouldn't have to match

The guage clusters are differant between the 98 and the 99 and newer

I can make a 99 PCM run a 98 IPC, but I haven't done it the other way yet
