Default LS1.Edit; downloaded file now can't re-connect??

I recently bought LS1 Edit. I downloaded the stock file from the PCM which was successful.

Now I can not re-connect. Computer says "error; trying to re-connect to the PCM"

Should I disconnect the battery reconnect it and try to down load the stock file again?

I'm not using a USB port connector; just the plain serial cable that came with the software.

I tried to reboot the computer after the "error; trying to re-connect" message; same result???

These Carputing directions are criptic at best; do I:

1. Boot up PC with the serial cable attached to the PCM
2. Load the software - LS1.prog??
3. Turn on iginition but not the motor for at least 10 seconds
4. Click on Read PCM
5. Assign the new file a name and storage location
6. Click OK????

Is this correct?

Thanks..

I wouldn't recommend booting the PC while plugged into the cars PCM. I noticed my dash lights blinking when I did this one time. I think there's some com activity in the port during bootup. Is there another car that you can hookup to and check for a connection? At this point I would recommend contacting Ken at Carputing.

This was my responce from Carputing:

****************************
Hi Rob,
Does the engine run? Was this during a reprogram of the PCM? The
LS1 file looks good. Is this the file that you read from the PCM? You
didn't use someone else's file.

Another option is if your COM port changed.

Can you try reading the PCM once again. See if you get the same
errors. If you do, please try a read. Before you select 'Action
Connect', please select 'logcomms'. Then select 'Action Connect' and
let it run until you get a few errors. Then select 'File Exit' to
normally exit. Please email us the logcomm.txt file.

Thanks,
Dave @ carputing.com

I have that problem sometimes.I just unplug the cable from the computer and car, then reconnect them and they are fine. You could also check the pins on the car end and make sure they are not pushed in.

I finally got my desktop machine to connect with my PCM.

I booted the machine, loaded the software and then plugged the cable into the car.....this is the only way it would connect.

Anyway, I downloaded the stock program, modified it and then re-programmed the PCM....

I car runs much better, the idle is smooth and the power curve is very flat....

...car is a H/C with all bolt ons....

Hopefully, I will now be able to pass NY emmissions tests...
