Default VE tables for TR224/112?

What are you guys running in the VE tables for this or similiar cam? I've seen 60-70-80, 60-80-90, and a few other settings (400, 800, 1200 rpm). Trying to get my ducks in a row for the cam install. Also what are the benifits of adjusting these table? Pro's and Con's? Thanks.

John

The cam will make the engine idle rich; adjusting the VE down compensates for this. You may need to experiment with the values to get it right, but all of those you mentioned will work. It is somewhat dependant on your particular car, cam overlap, combination of aftermarket parts, and your driving style. If you lean it out too much you will know because it won't start out smoothly from a stop with jerking and hesitation. I doubt you will be able to get rid of all the rich smell at idle, though.

I've tried more variations than I can remember, but I finally settled on 80-80-80 at 800 RPM.

Starts great cold and hot, but I still have the low RPM hesitation Cal mentioned. The hesitation only shows up when cruising at a steady speed, not when pulling out.

I know it's a milder cam, but for my B1 (221/221 114) I found that 75-80-80 w/ 800rpm idle gave me what I was looking for. Any leaner and I would get the "stumble" mentioned above. But as was said, your whole combo makes a difference as well, not just the cam. I tried probably 15 different combos till I got it as best as possibile....

Good luck.

...also, I noticed that the changes I was making to my IFR table trying to bring the Ltrims down would effect the impact of my VE table changes. Right now my IFR table is at X .95 (95%). So if you plan to make IFR changes for high Ltirms you might want to keep that in mind...

Thanks for the great responses. I will try 65-75-85 I think to start out with. The 85 to keep it from being too lean and stumbling as stated above as the 1200 rpm will be about where the rpm would be at take off. The car has Hooker LT's, off road y, ported TB, ported maf, ASP pulley, and custom tuning via Diablo Predator.

Idle timing can help out will the off idle stumble.
Remember fuel and timing work together.

That's right, a key element for me I forgot to mention was I added 4 degrees of idle timing.

Will adding timing at idle help any other idle conditions besides stumble?
