PCMS known to go bad????

sounds like a bad crank sensor to me.. been there done that..

When there is a no start the tach should show cranking rpm, if the tach stays at 0 than the ecm doesn't know the engine is turning...

+1 for a crank signal issue.

and yes, PCMs do go bad. i just had one last week in my car go bad...completely dead. cant even plug into it to read it. was getting no spark so i plugged into it with HPtuners to try and read some codes and got no Communication.

I just checked the car while its in the parking lot...tried to start it and it just cranks, no start. While its cranking the tach does slightly raise; so the crank sensor is definetly sending signal.

Did you pull the cap off of the fuel rail and press the little nozzle thing to see if it's got fuel pressure? Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key on? Start checking the basics now... fuel & spark. Good luck, keep us updated.

I spoke to another shop that is very knowledgable in the VATS system...they do A LOT of VATS repairs and this is not a VATS issue, bacause if it were the engine wouldn't crank at all. The VATS doesn't allow the starter to engage at. So, the PCM and VATS are eliminated, any other thoughts?

I gave the tech a new ign relay to swap in and it runs fine; so we'll see how it does. UNBELIEVABLE!
