H20 in PVC catch can???
I tuned the car with LS1 Edit reducing the LTRIMS to slightly negitive. I then drove 2000 miles on vacation. During the trip, I filled the gas tank with a double shot of carberator cleaner on each tank full.
Upon returning , I inspected the PCV oil catch can and found about one teasoon of crankcase oil and about 1/4 cup of water!!!!!
I assume the water came from the addition of carb cleaner to the gas, but I not sure.... the car runs great; there is no oil or water in the crankcase oil or radiator and the car runs great...
I added a fresh tank of 93 octane gas with no carb cleaner and 12 small cans of methonal (dry gas) to 1/4 tank of fuel for the emmissions re-test which will be done today....
..Any thoughts on the water in my PVC catch can?????
Thanks...
condensate. But you might draw humid air
through the PCV and drop the water. The
presence of DexCool in the glop would tell
you whether it's internal leakage or just
dew. Colder, foggy weather can push a lot
of water through the system.
The methanol would take up any fuel tank
water and bring it to the cylinders to be
part of blowby. Also makes a higher H2O /
CO2 fraction in the exhaust gas for blowby.
Light hydrocarbons have more hydrogen
per molecule.
Did you switch to a fresh, heavier oil for
your retest?
...the oil is still clean, however, so I'm going with it and hoping for the best....
I'm not liking the idea of what a bunch of
metal & sulfur might do to the cats & O2s.
If this is the normal gear oil that has lots
of molybdenum disulfide in it....

weird since I have had a catch can on for many months and I never got much of anything in the can...
I recently did an oil analysis by Blackstone labs after the head and cam swap.....they said everything is great!
...car was tested with an LS1Edit tune and 12 bottles of dry gas (methonal) and some really thick crankcase oil....
I am SO happy!!!!!
