Default HP Tuner?

I currently have a 2000 WS6 H/C, headers, intake (and most all the other bolt-ons) and it was tuned back in 2002 or so with LS1edit. Nothing has really been done sense then. We did change out the first cam and tested it with the wideband and looked fine so we didn't re-tune (this was back in say 2003).

I have been reading a lot about the HP tuners and am planning on getting one just to have it to screw around with. The car is not a daily driver, but I would probably drive it more if it were a little more driver friendly. I want to play around with the tuning for that (VE and MAF) as well as WOT.

Now my main question right now is do I need to get the comp flashed back to stock or can I just pull my current tune done with LS1edit into the HPT and go from there?

Thanks guys

You should be able to pull the tune in the PCM now and play with that one!!!
Hope this helps!!!

Thanks Mike, I'll probably go ahead and get one then. I was probably going to put off getting it for a while until I had more time to play with it if I had to start from scratch, but if I can use what I have as a base point then I should be able to get some benefit out of it sooner than later while I continue to learn more about it.

Like I said, the main thing I would like to work on 1st is the cold start (VE) and perhaps the surging when in gear at idle. And just drive around with it and get some readings and continue to tweak everything as I learn to do more with it.

Ok, I read through the tutorials and think I'm going to go ahead and get it. A couple questions I have for those that use it are is it worth getting the pro version? The main difference I saw was that the wideband could be incorporated into the software. I thought that would be nice, but was curious if there was any reason why I wouldn't want to do it that way. Also, other than the wideband, what other accessories/testing equipment would you recommend getting if any?

Thanks for your help guys

Get the PRO, when you use the other version and have to plumb WB in through EGR or AC pressure, it makes the logs almost impossible for anyone else to read if you share them on the web looking for help. It also adds a layer of difficulty (not using the PRO) to have to log through the PCM as well as some latency in the setups that I have seen.

Thanks Steve, thats good enough for me then. I have no problem paying the extra money, I just wanted to make sure it was something that would get used at least.

Hpt Pro is a great product. I tuned my car with that and a LC-1.
