New OBD II port question - i did search first!

New OBD II port question - i did search first! all the data here says the Serial Data wire from the PCM is Dk Green (pin 58 on the blue connector). but my OBDII port has a purple wire on pin 2 where the serial data wire is. does this wire change color between the port and the PCM?
i did notice that on the 98 Fbodys the serial data wire at the PCM is listed as purple. does this mean the interior harness is a 98? the VIN comes up as a 2000 and the motor/PCM is a 99.
this car appears to be a car put together from several other cars. likely the result of a theft recovery. lots of salvage yard ink pen writting on parts, signs on the floor pan that the car was jacked up using a small cheep floor jack (Autozone $20 special) from the dents seen on the bottom of the rad core suport, floor pan under the front seats and the rear hatch tub. manual Polo green (not a 98-02 color) passenger side door on an car w/ electric windows (harness on both sides and working electrics on the driver side).
