Default would a mass air code make the car slower?

p0101-Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

its the only code the car has thrown in a long while, i went to the track and the car traps 5 mph slower now.

Also, its a cammed car with tune, anyway it now has this big mis, or cut-out at 6k.

If it thinks the MAF has failed it will use your VE tables for airflow, which could be off. It would also run solely off the low octane timing tables which could also hurt power depending on the tune.

Jon is correct, you will loose power as it will revert to low timing tables. Your fuel will be rich or leaner also depending on the tune.

I Ran into the same thing myself. I went to the track and made a few pulls, all of a sudden the check engine light came on. My trouble was a bad fuse under the hood and that was causing the code to be thrown. If I remember right the was a 10 or 15 amp fuse that was blown. So hopefully it is a simple fix like that!

Yeah that's easy enough to check. Look for the 20 amp ENG SENS fuse under the hood.

I had mine on the dyno recently and the first pull was only 344hp. It had kicked a MAF code and diverted back to the low octane table. It was a stupid mistake on my part, but the next pull jumped to 403 hp after I fixed it.
