Default Best Approach For Tuning My 427?

So my build is a 427 LS1 with 248/255 cam. TEA AFR 237's. I'd be happy to share the rest of the build if interested.

I purchased the motor used and was able to retain the tune for the motor in the previous car in HPT. I have made some changes including exhaust, rear end, transmission, and intake (all are bigger).

Since I have the original tune which should be close but not quite it, would you suggest getting someone else to tune it or should I purchase my own software and tune myself (car is a DD weekend warrior, NEVER WILL SEE THE TRACK).

Supplemental question is would I benefit from HPT vs. EFI Live since the original tune is HPT.

You could always purchase a good base tune via mail-order or some dyno time.

Ultimately, with that kind of cubic inches and power..if you are patient enough to learn tuning, you will far more satisfied with your own tune than having to depend on others.

As far as your choice of tuning software..best to read the stickies or the last three months of similar threads. You can use either tuning software...regardless of what software it is tuned with now.

Enjoy that engine. Sounds like fun!

As long as there is no custom OS applied, you can use either software.
