Default What happens to PCM/BCM in a wreck

My Camaro has some front end damage that deployed the air bags. It will turn over but will not start, is there anything that happens to the PCM/BCM in a wreck that will not allow the car to run?

I don't know specifically for the Camaro, but a lot of platforms have kinetic switches to shutoff the fuel supply in the event of a roll-over/crash.

Can you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn on the key?

Are you throwing any codes?

If you get fancy you can jump the "everything's okay" signal from the BCM.

I'll check the fuel pump, didn't notice it come on but I had a fork lift running next to me and I wasn't really listening for it. Please explain jumping the "everything's okay" signal from the BCM?

Before tuning software could disable the VATS on the F-body's we used to jump the BCM to ground to disable the VATS and other interlocks.

I can't remember the wiring change, but perhaps someone can chime in with it.

Are you throwing any codes?
