types of tunes Hey fellas, I have a quick question about tuning. I put a MS3 in my 98 LS1 along with a LS2 timing set, pushrods, valve springs and o/r longtubes. I plan to add heads and most likely a 90/90 setup as well as a stall when I get some extra cash.
Im wondering what kind of tune I should get just to poke around town. I wont be going to the track or thrashing on it. Do I need a full dyno-type tune? Or is there a easier/cheaper tune I can get to get me around?

I agree...if you don't plan to take it to the track, the last 5-10 horsepower you might find on a dyno probably don't matter at all. With a wideband O2 sensor you can make sure the tune is safe, and from there, what it will really need is tuning time while driving it to make it run smooth and respond to the throttle quickly/cleanly.

I've tuned that setup enough that a mail order tune can be very driveable, but it's not the final solution for a setup like that. It still needs to go in front of a tuner in person and with a wideband to get all of the driveability and HP (or at least get the AFR in line) out of it.
