Default PCM swap ?

I am currently building my LS motor and have no harness or PCM yet. It was an LY6 but im ditching VVT and I am using an L76 intake. I understand I need a 58X reluctor PCM but what type of TB do I need to get and what year PCM do I need so that I can run my setup? I would like to stay away from DBW if possible.

From what I have read you need a drive by cable ECM from a van (maybe '03 or newer?). You can make any harness work by adding IAC and TPS plugs and re-pin as required for the ECM you use. I bought the IAC and TPS pigtails off Ebay, along with some split mesh loom.

What kind of vehicle is this going in? I don't believe any of the ecms that support the
58x reluctor wheel setup were drive by cable. Lingerfelter makes a converter box for the 58x so you could run a LS1 pcm that can support the drive by cable setup you are seeking.

It is going into an 86 Monte carlo SS. So I need to buy the converter box and an LS1 pcm and I should be able to run the drive by cable? I have no ran the numbers yet just put the motor in my garage I believe it is an LQ4 its got 317 heads and is a 6.0 liter. Do I have to have a 58x reluctor pcm?

Just re-read your original post. It was an LY6 but im ditching VVT and I am using an L76 intake. What do you have? Gen III (LQ4) or Gen IV (LY6)

I am sorry I had not picked up motor when I started inquiring about it. I was told it was a 6.0 with VVT so I did little research and found leads of it being an LY6. Well I recently just went and got it and it is a 6.0 but heads are 317. Have the block casting number but left it at the garage with the rest of my papers. So I am assuming that it is a LQ4 because of the truck intake 6.0 stamp with the 317 heads.

Look and see what color the crank sensor is. That will tell you which reluctor that you have. Then you will know which PCM that you can use.

Another question. If I am using the LQ4 PCM and harness what all adaptors are going to be different for me to use the harness with the LS6 intake and tb, LS2 front timing cover and after market fuel rails etc. Will I have to splice and add new connectors? Just curious as to if you all knew which ones I would need.
