Default HP Tuners; SD Tune; Illinois emissions

I have a question for the HP Tuners gurus out there...

My car has an SD tune and last time I took it to emissions it failed for a MAF low voltage or not read or something like that. My car has no MAF because its SD. Car throws no light but fails for the MAF. The solution was to put the maf on and run it down to the test on an NA tune, test it, pass, and put the boost tune back in without the maf.

Should i have to do this? Is there something else I can do? I'd really like to have to avoid this whole scenario ever again. I've heard some people pass IL emissions with an SD tune with no problem.

All help is appreciated!

i think you have to set it to SES Enabled and not report problems in the tune.
