Swapping PCM's??
Different pin-out on the PCM. Also VATS will be an issue.
You can re-pin and reprogram, and delete VATS if you really wanted to swap, but I would just stick with your PCM and put a tune in it.
No negative side effects that I would complain about doing it that way.
Is the VATS glitching because of the resistor connection on the key? There is an easier way to deal with that.
What exactly do you think he needs to repin? This isn't a 98 he's doing.
Why would he have to delete the VATS? The F-bodies use a PWM Vats signal and don't match VIN's like some of the other vehicles, that use the serial Vats.
2000 and 2002 use the same basic pin outs, even though they are differant PCM's, but the 2002 isn't going to support the EGR function.
I thought I remember bumping into a problem doing this, but I haven't done it for years without just writing a different OS to the PCM. My recollection is that you can swap 99 with 00 with no issue and 01 with 02 with no issue.
Apparently I don't have a clue.

So did you research the Vats and pinouts, while you were at it?

Maybe reading owns you, I said swaping the OS in the PCM, can be a problem, if you're putting the older OS in the newer PCM, nowhere did I say swapping the PCM's would be an issue.
