Bought predator on ebay
Hi
I bought a predator plug in tuner on e bay. It's used and only cost $150. How much horsepower will this add to my totally stock 99 ta convertible with automatic.
It also came with a cable and cd to connect to computer for custom tunes. What can I do yo get more power.
Thanks
Roman

what revision is it on? when you power it up and it's at the main menu, the revision number is at the top of the screen...
is it unlocked/reset?? the previous owner has to have restored the original backup/stock tune to their vehicle in order to unlock and reset the predator so that it could be used on your vehicle...
but again, that depends on how old it is and what revision it's on... because old revisions did not unlock, even after the original tune was restored...

you have to send it in to diablosport. theres information on where to send it and everything on their website. i had to do the same thing when i bought one for my pickup. i think it costs around 120 or 150, but cant remember for sure

no, you don't necessarily have to send it in to diablosport... it all depends on what revision it's on... newer ones can be done over the phone or via IM...
like I asked before, what revision is it on? when you power it up and it's at the main menu, the revision number is at the top of the screen... what is that number?? it would be a 1.xx, 2.xx, or 9rxx number...
and, for the $150 you bought it for, plus $129 to unlock/reset it, that's $279... you could have bought a brand new one from marylandspeed.com for $279 +free shipping, and had one with a warranty, and that was the newest version of the tool with the latest updates, functionality and tunes on it.... heh...
so, what's the revision number on it??

on a stock car you won't get enough to feel it (if you actually gain anything at all)...let you play with shift points and correct for tire sizes...about it

You mentioned shift points....are you saying that tuning out some of the TM makes NO SOTP difference in an A4 car?
I find it odd that when I first tuned my 99 Z28 A4 with a Predator like 7 years ago, it went from running 13.50s at 101 to 13.35s at 102+. Unless you have some data to back up your claim, you ought to keep it to yourself

Just trying to prepare him for when it doesn't blow his mind with a huge SOTP difference.
Considering my previous experience with several different programmers of various brands at my dad's shop and the one my little brother tried for his 5.3 Silverado, I have enough experience to consider them an unwise hp/$$$ for a bone stock vehicle.
Don't remember what brand the one he tried was but it firmed up the shifts by upping line pressure, feels harsh and shitty much like B&M shift kits. He took it back to the guy he got it from the same day.

For around $300 im not expecting a miracle just a noticabe gain in performance. Almost any other mod i have made to the car cost alot more (parts plus labor).
I wish diablo made a programer for 1998 trans am too.
