Default EFI Live help

Hi, I posted about this on the corvette forum but I may get a faster answer here. I just bought a 2007 Z06 and it has an EFI Live tune that is locked. I have the code, but I don't have EFI Live. I do have HP Tuners, but I'm out of luck with the PCM locked.

Can anyone with the EFI Live software unlock the tune (presuming that the code is correct of course) or is it specific to that one tuner's license? Otherwise, I guess I'm stuck with getting a new PCM since the tuner in question is no longer in business. If it can be unlocked, is there someone near Huntsville, AL that is willing to work with me?

If you know the correct key, then anyone with EFILive should be able to read the PCM by entering the key on the PCM Read window (PCM Read does not require a license).

Okay, that's good to know. After unlocking by reading, will it then be writable? I'm guessing it would require a license to unlock it permanently though. What does an EFI Live license cost? My guess is it'll be cheaper than a new PCM.

$99 for EFI Live license. I am not sure about using a license just to unlock it, give me a few minutes, I'll lock a pcm and see what it says, I never lock pcm's so I dont know.

It will require the key for reading and writing unless it is explicitly unlocked.

It can be explicitly unlocked without a licence and without a reflash.

[ a license is required only when flashing in a calibration ]

Thank you all for the information. Now I just need to find someone with EFI Live to unlock the tune. I really appreciate the help.

I'm still trying to find someone in NW Alabama or SW Tennessee with a copy of EFI Live. I figured for sure there would be somebody around that could help out. I promise to bring beer!
