98 to 99+ PCM Question
The person you got your PCM from gave you 1 of the 2 pcm connector blocks. (The 02 and the 98 are the same blocks)
You can use it to help with repinning. Just save it incase you mess up one of yours.
I prefer to label the wires on the pcm blocks with a ptouch labeler (r1, R2, R3)
It takes extra time but its very reliable.
Then I reverify one more time.
Then take off the red and blue connector holders and use a small punch and pick up the white tabs and pull out the wires.
Then you take you wires and start with one block and repin that connector.
Then to the other.
PM me of you need help.
There really isnt that much performance market for the 98 pcm, it can be done but there are more optins out there for the newer PCM's.
Now there is a guy on here that buys the 98 pcm;s for like 125.00 not bad.
Reason i am asking is because I am doing an LS swap in my LT Camaro. I have a 2000 harness and 9354896 PCM and could opt for the 0411.

I plan on trying up a guide here very shortly.
Basically the 0411 has a faster processor than the 4896 PCM and some of the internal memory was moved around.
The fuel segment is only for the fuel gauge to make it work properly? The temp sensors are different? I'm running a 98 ls1 t56 in a 62 nova. I want to upgrade to the 02 pcm for tuning capabilities.
The 98 computers don't use water temp but the 99+ does? Do i need to get a 2 wire sensor and connector to make this work? What other sensors are different?
Are the crank sensors different (from 24x to 58x or something)?
Other than repinning the harness at the connectors it is more or less plug and play?? Thanks
The 98's drive the gauge cluster directly off the sensors.
For the 98 temp sensor, it had 3 wires, one is signal, one is ground and the other drives the gauge. (yellow signal, Brown Ground)
Crank sensor is the 24x so no difference form 98 to 04
repin the harness, plug in prepped 0411 pcm (if you are using a 98 harness), enjoy = ; )
