AIRC, the radio has an anti theft device in it???
I remember reading that some vehicles have this, so the thieves can't use the stolen radio in another vehicle...
Not sure how to "program around" this... Someone will respond, I'm sure.

the radio should not cause the car not to start.
the radio if locked will only not turn on.
Make sure the pellet in the key is clean. clean the ends with rubbing alcohol.
Other than the radio has anything changed?

have you left the key in if you have it will keep adding time to not let it start if its in the vats. pull key and wait 30 mins to be safe. was your factory radio locked? does the light on the dash in def. vent blink? car should start with out radio. how did you power new one? If your old radio was locked car should still start just no radio.

Is it a stick car, maybe you knocked the switch off the clutch. Also check for any blown fuses.
If it is VATs the light would be flashing. The light should come on when you turn on the key they go off. You can measure the resistance of the key with a ohm meter, then wire in the same resistance under the dash with radio shack resistors. I have seen a write up on this somewhere on here.

So Originally when this occured the car would crank and then stop cranking and the secufity light would come one. Now I have done the resistor method and the car cranks but does not start and the security light is on. So what next?

I like this VATs bypass much better.
I thought the resistance was very pickey like 1% of the pellet value and no start.
but here is the link
