Question Edit & line pressure?? (exhausted search)

I have done exhaustive searches on this and still cant come up with a straight answer on EXACTLY what to change to increase transmission line pressure and firm up the shifts.

The trans has been built by Mike Kurtz @ Century. I spoke with him about this but he isnt very familiar with Edit.

The car is running 10.8's on the spray but since I'm weighing in at 3800 pounds I'd like to up the line pressures and shift pressures from stock and have a little more "holding" power on this built tranny.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can only modify the line pressure (in software)
to be up to 100% PWM duty cycle on the "force motor"
or whatever they call it. Then you get full mechanical
line pressure. All the computer can do is lower it from
there to make things smoother etc. by reducing PWM
duty cycle.

At WOT you should be at 100% by default and the
PWM should only be a factor at part throttle. So it
may not be necessary to program, and may not be
possible to improve without mechanically jacking up
the main regulator. I'd expect a decent build to
have set this up to sane upper line pressure limits
anyway? Might check whether.

Adaptation time params are where you want to take
a little more care, supposedly it's possible to shorten
them enough (in Edit; Predator has a limited range)
to make the trans "trip over its own feet" although
if you have the "built trans" shift-kitted (or the
equivalent pieces & drilling done) this will probably
be different from stock and maybe unnecessary to
boot, if the trans mods are helping your shift cycle
times.

the lower the number, the higher the pressure. if the tranny has been built, i would not recommend turning the pressure up at all. mike knows what he's doing in there and unless he said it would be ok, i just wouldn't do it.

Actually he told me it would be ok to raise it 25% or so but I cant figure out how and where to do that at.

There is a involved discussion at the top in the automatic section about line pressures.
You may gain some insight there if you have not already been there.

i wouldn't do it down low, but from about 25-30% TPS and up, you can just highlight that area in the table, click use selected cells only, and multiply by 75%. that would reduce the cells that you selected by 25% thus increasing line pressure 25%. you may want to start a bit lower and see what kind of results you get first.

And therein lies my problem Texas Terminator, in which tables do I make these adjustments? Thanks.

in EDIT: transmission calibration-shift firmness-positive pressure vs temp. i'd start around 20deg C and 30% TPS. highlight everything above that and multiply by about 85% and try it. if it doesn't do what you want, go back and do the same thing again but only multiply by about 90%. that would end you at the 25% overall that you were looking for. you may want to go into your base pressure vs torque tables and up them a bit too.

Whats up Ryan. I still have the SY3500 in it. Mike just rebuilt it though and beefed it up internally for the spray. I love the low STR of the SY3500 and since I'm too stubborn to switch away from my Nitto DR's I gotta have it. LOL! I'm sure its costing me some ET but its nice to have a complete street car in the 10's. Weather should be clearing up for you boys up there soon. Hope it comes swiftly, as I'm sure you all are itching to hit the track/streets. Later.

Ah yes, weather up here is certainly improving. Hit 55* toady; a big step up from the -3* highs we had just over a month ago.....

I'm still stuck on my SY3500 too, I love it's street manners. You say that you had to have yours rebuilt though, what happened to it? I was under the impression that the SY3500 was a very long living converter as I've seen some people claim 50K+ miles on them without issues. Was it the N2O that took it's toll?

Ryan - I had it rebuilt due to metal contamination from the tranny coming apart. All of this was before I sprayed it. You should have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the update Chris

It's nice to see somone take that 'verter and put it in the 10s. Most people don't even give the SYs much consideration because of that low STR. They can be good for a decent launch though. Even at stock weight with stock internals & 3.23 gears I was able to get mine to a best short time of 1.69 on BFG DRs....

Again, congrats on your times, they look great
