Default tuning issue or not?

ok fellas i havent been on here in a while but there used to be alot of helpful people on here and any help would be appreciated. i have a 98 camaro that was a heads and cam car for years, the motor blew a few years back and it sat for a while. i drained the tank after i put a bonestock longblock back in it and went through everything pretty thorough. i cranked it and ran it around short burst around the hood before i took it to the track. it takes off great but after it gets going good @ WOT it falls on its face. it sometimes does it after the 1st 8th or sometimes it waits til 1000ft (approx) but the other night it done it after the 60ft so the problem is intermitant. i drove it down the highway afterwards and it didnt do it at all. could it be the tune? it was dyno tuned 8 years ago with the following mods, 230-236 cam cut on a 112, ls1 heads ported and cut down 30 thou. ls6 intake, ewp, headers. * now in has fast 90/90, headers with stock longblock. i have checked the fuel pressure and made sure all grounds were good. help please. thank you.

need a datalog file to analyze. Maybe send your tuning file for review.

cylinder compression? Spark plug health?
fuel pressure while at WOT? Vacuum at WOT?
AFR at WOT? There are a LOT of possibilities. You are going to have to start with a basic datalog and checks first then start fine tuning your search.

Thanks for all info. I pulled a couple plugs and appear to be lean and while checking i found both my oxygen sensors were loose, would this have anything to do with it?

Loose O2's would read a lean condition, which would be compensated for by unnecessary positive fuel trims. If the plugs are reading lean, I'd definitely investigate the tune to make sure everything is good as well as the fuel system (injectors, pump, fuel filter, rail pressure). If it's a bone stock longblock, it should be running on a bone stock tune (or something close to it). There's not a whole lot that needs to be changed on a bolt-ons only car.

well its sure not going to help things if the o2 sensors are not grounded well.
if your engine has an airbox, 90/90, 230/236-112, higher compression, I would suggest you go have it tuned then see what happens.

I think he said it's only got a FAST intake and headers...no cam. At least, that's what I interpreted when he said stock long block.

Sounds like its running out of fuel. I know you said fuel pressure was good but did you have a fuel pressure reading while its loosing power? Might want to tape the fuel gauge to the windsheild and go beat on it.
