code P0420???Please help!

threw that code today, said somthing about bank 1 catalyst running below threshold, i dunno what that means, is it anything to worry about, i erased it to turn off the light, but i was wondering if it was somthing that needed to be attended to or not?thanks

cat by bank 1 -might be plugging--but definatly a cat --have you run any leaded gas in in I.E. "racegas" ?--i did with a 2 gals to 8 of 93 octane and it fried my cat--coated the o2 with lead

yea, i ran 100 octane about 2 months aog, but it just came on today, car runs fine, not like the cats hav clogged or anything???

yah but the o2 is either coated with lead or the cat has some plugging--i think it will just make it run real rich

I have the same problem man..My is bank 2 (just today). Looks like our cars were compleated on lunch, during some Friday!...lol If your car has less than 80k on it, GM will put a new cat on it (called local dealer). I might just go with the LT's and cats...gives me a good excuse to drop another 1200 on my baby! Good luck!
