You could run a z06 MAF with a caspers pigtail hook up. And then later down the road if need be stop by a parts store and get one. It's a 85mm unit for about a half to third of the price

What I did was port the 85 mm. If it an SLP I would try to sell it. They put a resistor in and them sell for big bucks. I got an 85mm for 35.00. I took the screen off. To take the screen off you have to straight shot for the air going into MAF. The screen is an air straightener. I then ported it,ie took all the edges off with 400 grit sand paper. If you are going to tune it most anything will work. You just have to make sure the table looks good after the tune. if the table is bad then you have to rework the MAF and try to tune again.

I would not "port" as in removing sidewall or vane material.
I've done it, trying to get the WOT g/sec to line up with
stock, but it became unstable at the low end with the
vane removed.

Descreened truck MAF, and truck table, will be roughly
right. Truck MAF is your SLP MAF minus the resistor.
If it's bent rich then try the Z06 table instead.

No, as mentioned, it uses a resistor to skew the MAF signal toward lean, in an effort to pick up power on a bone stock car, not the proper way to do things

The only time the 85diameter maf would be beneficial is if you changed the lid and the intake/throttlebody as well so it is not the restriction that a stock 78m one would be.

For example, 90mm intake and throttlebody, 90mm lid, 78mm stock maf would not be as good as : 90mm intake and throttlebody, 90mm lid, 85mm stock truck maf.

OR if you go 102mm, then 102mm intake and throttlebody, 100mm lingenfelter maf, 102mm lid is what it needs to be. Having a stock 78mm in this situation would be a restriction as well.

HOWEVER if you have not changed your lid, or intake/throttlebody, then a stock maf is fine.

A truck MAf for 35$ is a cheep mod. It may reduce restriction over stock. So ported stock Throttle body, 85 mm truck MAF and lid is a good upgrade for 125$.

Exactly as I have found when researched extensively.

Keep in mind if you change the MAF you must get a tune. So unless you have tuning software or a tuner who will update for free there will be added cost there and also for the pigtail adapter.

I saw no gains with a switch from stock maf to 85mm MAF and I even used a less restrictive screen.

Unless you are over 450rwhp it should be low priority.

Yes it would. I talked to my tuner Solomon and was told the Delphi part#AF10056 has similar flow characteristics to the stock maf. Close enough to being able to get away with your current tune even. I put that Delphi maf on my 383 LT-1 and seems to run the exact same part throttle and idle. I have read 3-4 threads doing tons of searching and have seen 5-10whp gains on cam bolt on LS cars. back to back dyno's. This was on 01' and earlier LS cars that still had the smaller mafs. The vehicles included Vettes and one Camaro going from stock maf to a 85mm. I Can see why. Look at the pic below on the diameter differences. Especially where the stock maf tapers in as it gets close to the actual sensor. ~I know how old this thread is FYI. Just giving out hopefully helpful information.~

Here is a link to the same Ebay auction I got my MAF from. Not sure how you can beat this deal. $70 bucks for a new 85mm OEM quality part.

Delphi MAF showing the pigtail harness they include for three wire harnesses.

Stock MAF next to the AF10056 Delphi MAF.
