If I change OS, will my EFI License still work?
When my stock PCM was replaced last week, the shop put in a new PCM out of a truck and kept the truck OS.
Their tuner told me all the tables were the same BUT after going through the tune I see different diagnostics etc. (this was after I licensed the PCM of course )
If I put an '01 Fbody OS in this PCM will I be able to Read and Flash it with the existing license?
I have my tune from the old, stock, PCM; can I just upload that tune to the new PCM if it has the same Fbody OS?
What is the best way to put the factory Fbody OS in the new PCM; tech2 at the dealer or other method?
Thanks for any help!

If I have to go to the dealer I don't want to have to pay $220 just to get my old EFILive tune from my stock PCM in this new PCM.
And I don't think efilive will issue me another License on the same PCM. I could explain what happened but I don't know how what would be their decision obviously.
So $120 at the dealer for a stock flash and then another $100 for a new License if efilive says no-go.

If you have already licensed the PCM, you can flash whatever you want into it, as long as it will run your car.
So, that being said, if you have licensed the new PCM with the truck OS, and you have your previous F body file, just flash it. Do a write entire (program OS and cal.).
If you're concerned about the dealer reflashing it, lock the tune. Then they won't be able to flash it.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I Write the OS and Cal?
I never changed OS before so I don't know the procedure and I don't see any tabs to do so.
Thank you for all the help !!
It is appreciated way more than you'll ever know!

"Program PCM Operating System and Calibrations..." is gray. I do not have access to this option with my V1.
Is this a limitation of the V1? If so; that really sucks
EDIT: so I just have to do the $50 upgrade from Personal to Commercial option. That will give me the ability to flash the factory OS at that time correct?
Bought my cable so many years ago I forgot what I had lol!
Guess I have the Personal Scan & Tune.

You will have to have Commercial version v1 upgrade to perform a full flash. That or just send the ecm to me, i will flash it to what you want for free.
The Os has nothing to do with licensing, or even the car that it is in.
Also just EMAIL me your vin number, i can give you a stock file for your car without you having to go to the dealer for one.

The truck OS and crap program the tuner had in the Firehawk is now GONE. It threw a gazillion codes, cold-started rough, ran rough.
Upgraded my Personal EFILive Cable to Commercial.
Uploaded my Factory OS and MY original EFILive tune it had BEFORE it went to their shop.
Turned the key, cold-started the Firehawk up and WENT RIGHT TO IDLE.
NO CODES. NO ROUGHNESS. BUTTER SMOOTH! WOOHOO!!!
Chalk up another victory for EFILive over HPT
Since it DID fire right up and idle without issue, do I still have to do a CASE relearn or no after swapping the OS?

The tuner at the shop, where I had my valve springs replaced and the subsequent pcm debacle, uses hpt exclusively and, self-admittedly, knows next to nothing about Efilive.
He swore UP AND DOWN that the "tune" he copied into the new pcm was a 2001 Fbody OS. When it absolutely was NOT but, in actuality, it was a Truck OS ( threw lots of codes and had the SES and Service Vehicle lights on; all of which he said was "normal.")
So my HPT comment was not intended to be a jab at the software but, in this particular instance, a jab at the USER/TUNER; user error.
Thanks for everything Ed and Jesse!
