It takes all of 10 minutes. 2-10mm bolts and the 4 bolts for the wiring harness connectors.
My local chevy dealership charged me 360 dollars labor for this very difficult task after they charged me 375 for a new pcm

what exactly is wrong with yours now?
solder, heatshrink, is the best/easiest repair
the best repair would be to replace the whole harness with a replacement one. But that is simply not cost effective for a simple broken wire. But if somebody cut the connectors off the computer, i would consider that, before soldering 100 wires together.
you could replace the actual wire that is broke , but that requires special crimpers, special pins for the computer, and sensor end, and taking the old harness apart, and retaping it back together when your done.

ok here it goes. i had guages put in my air vents. the tach wire runs thru the vent, thru the firewall, over the intake, and over to the PCM where it is spliced in to the factory wire for the guage cluster tach. well i was havin problems and took teh splice apart. this now leaves the wire for my guage cluster tach not-working. i pulled some of the insulation off of both ends of the wire and wrapped tehm together with my fingers....
and covered it with electrical tape for now. i want to connect these two wires the right way without having to twist them together....and then put some form of insulation (electrical tape) over it to keep it safe.

oh, thats easy to fix right. I just did that on a friends formy the other day.
since the wire is cut, slide some heatshrink on the wire, make a good mechanical connection by twisting the wire, heat the wire with a solder gun, and let the solder flow through the wire.
Once it cools slide the heatshring over the connection, and apply heat.
if you don't have enough room to slide the heatshring over, and solder, the pin comes out of the computer harness easily. just take the gray cover off, and pull back on the retainer, slide the pin out, slide heatshring over the connection, and put the pin back.
But since yours is cut, you should be able to just slide the heatshrink over, and solder, and slide it back on.
the car i worked on, the wire was not cut, so i did it that method, it was just stripped, and tried to attach a tach wire to it
