Default need help on my car for tunning

2003 Z06

Vararam intake.
fast 90 mm hand ported by myself
ls2 tb stock maf
dyntech long tubes with high flow cats stock mufflers
Monster stage 3 with light weight fly wheel

I have been to the track and it ran 11.84 at 115. 50 with a 1.644 60ft stock front rims with 17x11 rears with mt et streets.

When the car was bone stock and went 12.30 at 115.80 on a 3200 launch because of a going clutch.

My air fuel is 13.0 to 13.4 in 2nd and 3rd and 12.2ish in 4th and im running 23degrees of timing. Why is my car so far off from what it should be at the track. I should be trapping 123 almost

Would need to see a log (with wideband readings) for an entire track run to really be able to tell anything...

Unfortunately, I don't have HPTuners, so hopefully someone else can help you...

they had some pretty burned up acdelco's and swapped out for ngk tr5 about 2 weeks ago with about 200 miles on them. the car was on the dyno but only had the fast intake, vararam, and light weight clutch. mind you this dyno read about 20 high

the idiots went by mph so where there is a little hickup in the middle at 90 mph is about 4500 and the limiter was stock at 6500 to give you an idea of the rpms and power it was making

on the adventure park tune, You have the COT over temp enabled so when your cats get hot, your tune is set up to add 1.25 more fuel. if you disable that, Id still make the final WOT fuel ratio a little richer for your overall AFR at WOT in the mid 12s

It is roughly 3200 with me in it and no extra junk in the car. I weight 3270 at MIR but had a bunch of stuff in the car

your sensors are reading your exhaust temperture thresholds and will add fuel depending on the tempertures to protect your cats from overheating.

in your HP tuners go to engine/fuel/ COT lean cruise/ COT CAT overtemp protection/ Click it to disable

Ahh ok I get it. so on a long 3 or 4 gear pull the cats get hot near the end of the pull and the cot adds some fuel and that's why it gets richer.

Just out of curiosity, who told you a bolt-on Z @ nearly 3300lbs should be trapping 123? I'd say you're in a pretty good spot. Get yourself a solid 420~430rwhp and you might hit that trap speed.

As for the tune, looks like you found the COT. That, BTW, is calculated by the PCM based on load and RPM - not measured by the O2s. I'd target a 12.7-12.8 AFR, which gives you a little margin of safety. Optimal timing is really found on a dyno. Start with the stock timing map and add a little to it at a time to see where it stops making power without triggering knock retard (be careful around peak torque). You can try to do it at the strip, too. But, understand variances in your run (60' times, shifting, etc.) might make the slight differences in timing hard to determine if they're truly beneficial. For safety, I wouldn't make too much of a change to the lower RPM stuff. After all, the shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, etc. probably won't drop you below 4,500 RPM.

Have you been able to log with your wideband yet?

I have been doing logs with a widebandd but I haven't hooked it up so that the laptop can record the afraid. Im out in the car right now and made some pulls. It is now leaner at the top of gears so making adjustments to that but what's weird is the car is now as quiet as stock???? Wtf?!!!!

you need bigger injectors, could probably add 2-3 degrres of timing to pick up some power but would need to put it on the dyno to verify or tune at the track
