Default PCM Placement

I am at the stage in my build where I need to think about wiring and where I want to put stuff. My 93 has a SN95 dash swap, and space is at a premium behind it.

I was thinking, since I am doing a rear seat delete (I am 6'5", and have 01 GT leather seats) I want to put my PCM where the passenger rear seat used to be. I'd like to make a compartment on either side (I am going to make the compartments anyway) one for the PCM, and the other for power distribution. I also want to make them both seen (Used to professionally install car audio) and clean, but throw a little flair in on the mix with some LED lighting in a tasteful fashion. I also want to window my PCM, and install some lighting inside it (did many PC case mods also.... google my screen name, you will see....)

Now for the placement issue. I want the PCM in my back seat, will there by any issues extending the signal wires that far? I am only extending the signal wires. The power/ground wires will go to the distribution area on the drivers side, and the engine side of the power/ground will go to another distribution area in the passenger kick panel. I am thining in total a length increase of 6-7' max. will this cause any signal degradation or interference issues. I am planning on using some foil tape to limit the amount of intereference om the wire bundle, so.... What are your thoughts?

I'm running the PCM on the back deck of my Miata swap. So far (12k miles), no problems. I think you'll be fine.

What did you do for the wiring, did you shield it? Have any pics of it?

Just extended the harness roughly 6 feet using wires from another harness. Solder and heat-shrink as per usual. Battery is mounted in the trunk in Miatas, so a few of the relay'd/fused power supply lines for the PCM were very short.

The only "sheilding" done to the car, was the addition of aluminum-backed butyl rubber sound deadening/heat shielding throughout the entire floor and firewall. Yes, RFI was a concern initially, but it seems to have worked out just fine.

Outstanding. Your insight has given me the confidence to do it. Thanks again!
