Default hptuner is way cool

nuff said.

it has a few glitches:

took 8 minutes to read pcm

when writing it went to 80% then dropped to slow mode.

Definitely needs some tuning guides but thats what the forums are for. holy crap alot of stuff to tweak.

i found out my ls1edit tune had shift points of 6200,6300 !! lol

very pleased with product. the scanner is cool and the support is fantastic.

Do yourself a favour and buy hptuners ----->
its way cool.

anyone know why my idle in gear is like 1500 ->1100 ramped
and out of gear is like 1500-> 1100 ramped?

is this a trick to keep the car idling? lol.

maybe thats why im getting surging from 0-1500 if demanded idle is 1500 and locked up at 1000rpm in 4th . hmm

raining, cant test new setup. but lowered in park/gear idle by 100rpm's with 3/16" drill hole in tb and now idles a little lower.

now the fun begins!

dont forget to save your base tune lol!

thanks guys at hptuners, your product rox

yah i upgraded to next day air.

If anyone with a cammed A4 wants to trade files to look at i can do a printscreen
on all the items. I am not saying my car is perfect (See mods below) but i'm working on it. Its a beotch to get the A4 to run as good as an m6 and cold start n crap.

so anyone wants to trade printouts (dont wanna flash my bin to your car) then cool.

I also compared hptuners to LS1edit, and it looks like 1.3 of edit is missing a few features, and theres somethign missing from the A4 section of hptuner, but the datalogger is aight. Not as good as eflilve but works, and logs. But im sure magnus is gonna make it badass.

props to this product now i have full control.

$500. I think it's pretty easy to learn. The only thing I've had to look up in the instructions so far was which position to turn the key to for reading the pcm. It's pretty user friendly. I've never used ls1edit, but the consensus is it's much better since it has logging and isn't vcm locked.

its basically identical to ls1edit 1.3 (yeah ive seen them both next to each other)
it has a scanner/logger.
it flashes WAY faster.
its interface is a tad (but not much, excluding graphs which i dont use) the same

Do you guys think I should buy one of these programs and learn how to use it to tune my car or have a shop tune it for me for the same price as the program? I'm leaning towards buying one of these programs and get my own dynotime and mess around with the car for cheaper.
1hr dynotime=100$
Tuning=530$
What do you guys think?

you do plan more mods in the future? You can always get a copy of a tune (generic) thats close to your mods, and street dial in timing/af as close as possible then do the wot on the dyno..

or if ya got friends locally that have widebands portable, you can do wonders with them.

i've got two widebands (ntk, bosch lsu) and hptuners so i think i'm pretty set

we plan on doing mods later, so we might just hold off on this and get it proffesionally tuned, but after that I might get the program when I am ready for more mods.
Thanks

A couple questions:

1) Does it come with instructions such as on how to adjust A/F ratio, idle, removing rev limiter, speed governor...etc ?

2) Do you think a newbie can learn from it, and tune the car pretty decently ? (Let's say stock Ls1 with headers, and mild cam) ?

Thanks
Adam

Instructions of that sort are pretty limited. But
the kind of thing you can get help with on any
forum, like this one or theirs.

Fortunately it seems to be pretty plain for the
most part, only some of the more obscure stuff
I have to go dig for explanations of what it means
and what changing it does.

No doubt you can learn to tune for what you're
talking about, and the tool can cover it all (and
then some).

Just keep at it methodically, and save each new
edited-up tune in its own file (.bin) along the way
so you can back out of anything you end up not
liking, and you can work it 'til it's right.

so if i buy hptuners and also buy dynojet wideband commander i want have to bring it to a shop with a dyno ? i could do complete tuning as i need ?

What is best to use for tracking errors in the car.
HpTuner, EFLive, LS1Edit...

My car misfire and nobody can find what's wrong.

Can I use one of this and record some data and post it here on the forum,
so someone can look at it and maybe help me to see what’s wrong?
