Swapping PCM's?? i need help!!

Default Swapping PCM's?? i need help!!

If I was swapping my Pcm into a friends car and hooked up a scan tool to it. would it bring up my vin or would it still bring up his vin?

It will bring up the vin that is stored in the computer.

it will bring up your VIN. Also it won't start due to BCM-PCM need to be relinked. if you have the ability to disable VATS then you'll need to do that before you swap it.

What Crash said. The VIN is stored in the PCM when flashed so if you swapped your PCM to your friend's car, it would read your VIN.

Never heard of that and I've personally used a second PCM with a different VIN back when LS1Edit wasn't available yet for the '02's (I was running a PCM with a '00 flash and a friend's VIN) . Never had any issues with mismatched VINs.

i've heard of the BCM-PCM connection, on vettes, and v6 cars, (but not confirmed any of them)

but never on a LS1 f-car. the BCM just provides a simple 5volt50hz square wave to allow starting conditions, nothing on the Serial Data Bus.
