Default Best way of tuning for part throttle LTFT's? (usingLS1edit)

I've seen conflicting ideas on the best way to tune to get your slightly negative LTFT's at part throttle. Some say using the MAF table is the way to go. Then I've read to use the IFR table, because there are some issues that can come about from using the MAF table vs the IFR. But what are those issues? What are the pro's and con's of these two methods?

I have a Pace 85mm MAF, supposed to be "calibrated" but my LTFT's were running from 7 to 10% at part throttle under load. I scaled the MAF table by 105%, and now LTFT's are around -8 at idle, and - 1 to -2 at part throttle load (locked at zero at WOT).
Would it have been better to scale the IFR table, and why?
trying to get a better understanding.
thanks

Ken
