I am getting real close to finally firing up my car after a long hiatus of it sitting in my garage and collecting parts. I have HPtuners and was going to disable the VATS through that as soon as I purchased the credits. Well unfortunately the other day when I went to start the car I realized that the keys had vanished from my key chain. The keys were on a shotty hog ring style key chain so I am guessing that they somehow had fallen off. The dealer of course wants like $60 for a cut VATS key. Again I was just going to tune out the VATS so I would rather not have to spend the money for the VATS. My question is does anybody know for sure if you need the VATS key in the ignition to reflash the ECM and disable ther VATS? If that can be done then I will just get the non-VATS key cut and move on.
