Guess I could just wire it up and see if the scanner will show the Alcohol percentage and if the timing changes.

Only problem is seeing if the gauges and stuff works...

I just made a post about doing this in the conversion forum. I wanted to be able to hook up a FF sensor on my 2002 camaro.

It seems like the best route is to get a PCM that can control DBC, and install the 12579405 OS. Move the pins around to match this PCM, and you should be able to run flex fuel. Sucks though as i will have to buy another EFIlive license.... Unless someone figures out a way to run a COS on a 411 pcm with flex fuel.

Comparing the truck PCM pin out to the Camaro PCM pin out, there is quite a few wires you would have to move. Also would the a/c work? Someone mentioned in this thread the truck and car a/c is activated differently.

What is a P59 pcm I keep seeing people talk about? What is this pcm from and would it run the a/c and a drive by cable?

Run the 12586243 PCM and the GTO 12587604 OS (PCM pinouts are the same as the F-body)

You can run a COS on a 411 pcm, you just don't have 2 or 3 bar capabilities with EFILive.

P59 pcm has the green/blue connectors. The pcm speedracer mentioned is a p59 and would have 3 bar capabilities with a COS upgrade.

I've been watching this thread for a while and it looks like the simplest route with the fewest modifications is the 2005 Express Van 2500 ecu and OS. It will be dbc, ff, 3-bar capable, and 4l80e if you want.
If you wanted to run this in your f-body, just repin your ecu connector in your harness and you should be good to go, other than the 4l60e trans. But for a swapper like me, I'm already running the 4l80e.

Hey Ryan,

I actually tried the 05 express PCM/OS with flex fuel 3 bar OS and a 4l80e. Everything worked fine, to include the DBC throttle body, except for the flex fuel. I could not seem to get the flex fuel to work properly even with the settings in HPtuners enabled.

The solution to this problem was to use 05 avalanche flex fuel base file and do the trans segment swap(uses same OS as 05 express). This avalanche file is for a DBW setup but if enabled in the system options, DBC throttle bodies can be controlled as the appropriate IAC tables are still populated in the DBW calibrations. The key to making this work with DBC setups is to have the proper pcm with the IAC drivers. That is where the van pcm comes in to play.

If you have any more questions on this, fire away.

So it looks like that PCM is also the same one used in S10's and the express vans.

I went and compared the PCM pin outs on the f-body and the 2004 GTO from lt1swaps.com. it looks like there are differences in the pcm pinouts. Mainly I believe the GTO uses different O2 sensors, so they are different, along with the GTO having many more grounds for the o2’s which isn’t a big deal. I have listed out the differences below. There are a few other things different for egr, air pumps etc… but that is typical stuff people eliminate.

Then to add the flex fuel sensor we would just put the signal wire from it to pin 56 in C2 connector? Is there a ground and power source from the pcm that would power the sensor?

Connector c1 differences
Pin - Fbody - GTO
72 - empty - trans range switch B - is this needed on 4l60e?
70 - oil level - empty
67 - empty - ground
64 - empty - ground
63 - empty - low reference oil pressure
34 - Neutral safety switch - trans range switch P- is this needed on 4l60e?
32 - clutch switch - trans range switch A- is this needed on 4l60e?
30 - empty - coolant level
27 - empty - ground
24 - empty - ground
19 - ign. 1 voltage - ign. 3 voltage – same thing?
7 - empty - 5 volt reference oil pressure

Connector c2 differences
5 - empty - delivered torque signal - is this needed on 4l60e?
12 - empty - ignition retard signal
13 - engage cruise - empty
15 - generator turn on - empty
17 - a/c request signal - empty
30 - fuel enable control - empty - what is fuel enable control????
37 - cruise inhibit - empty
53 - ign. Retard signal - o2 sensor heater
58 - empty - oil pressure sensor
62 - empty - trans range switch C – is this needed on 4l60e?
72 - empty - o2 sensor low control – is this needed if you are using ls1 o2 sensors?
74 - empty - 02 sensor low control– is this needed if you are using ls1 o2 sensors?

It looks like only a few pins would need to be moved around. Oil level, coolant level, oil pressure, cruise wires, ignition retard, and a/c request. Are the transmission range switches and delivered torque signal needed? I think that is only for the range selector on the 4l80e correct? Also what is the fuel enable control???

This is great to know! So if we simply get a GTO pcm, then we can install any OS on it that is a 1mb file and flex fuel capable?

The pcm pin out is hardware specific to the GTO PCM, regardless of the OS, correct?

I've been told the only thing that needs to be swapped is traction control?

I believe you are correct, however certain pins can have different functions based upon the calibration. For instance, the presence of a park/neutral switch or trans range switch can be programmed and the pcm will use the signal on that pin differently.

Also, I found some info about using a red/blue(p01) harness with a blue/green (p59) pcm.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-together.html

http://lt1swap.com/cable_conversion.htm
scroll down to the section talking about using red/blue ecm with green/blue harness. There is good info about the wiring differences.

It looks to me like a p59 can be programmed to function properly in a f-body without wiring mods. The differences in the pin-outs you posted are mainly a difference with the o2 sensor grounding differences, however it is possible that the p59 can operate the f-body style o2s. Also, looking at your pin-outs, the gto has a trans selector switch and the f-body does not, but the PCM can be calibrated to accept the f-body switch/wiring.

If only I had an f-body to try this on..

I just took a quick look through the f-body pin-outs on lt1swap.com and I did not see any pins on the pcm related to the traction control system. Does the PCM even play a role in the traction control system?

I believe the traction control is separate from the pcm on the f-body. It has its own motor and controls for the traction control since it is drive by cable.

I picked up a p59 and I going to give it a try. Tune out egr/air, apparently the fuel gauge needs to be done a little different. The o2 heaters are always on on the f-bodies and I believe that you can change it so it doesn't expect those signals. Is the gto a serial ac request?

Awesome! Be sure to update this thread with any calibration questions and or results.

By the way, the difference in the o2 sensors is, in p59 applications, isolated ground sensors are used and they get their ground from the pcm. F-bodies use case grounded sensors and the ground wire does not come from the pcm. This is mentioned in one of the threads posted a few posts ago. The solution is apparently to just disable the appropriate dtc's.

Tcs is red 53 or green 12, labeled ignition retard. So to make the pcm swap work right it's switch those and then delete egr/air, also have to do something with fuel gauge and change ac to analog. If running a gto os with iac that SHOULD be it, but won't know till I try

I had the same question. This mod with hp tuners won't allow the f-body vin to be used right?

My understanding is hp changed this so that you can now proceed with mismatched pcm's

You can write a 2002 F-Body VIN to a Silverado / Suburban / Tahoe, Corvette, etc. OS on a P01 (411 style) controller.

You can't create a mismatched or corrupted VIN / OS pair, but you can license one which is a new feature.
