F Body Big Power Computer Too Slow?
Having a general conversation with a in the know shop on performance LS in general and was told that factory ECM is too slow to make 600 to 800rwhp boosted on a F body car? I had never heard this before.
Please chime in if you KNOW some truth to this if so what are the choices other than a 6K $ computer upgrade.
Thanks

I've personally tuned on a 1300 HP 2002 Fbody Camaro...
as well as several others over 1k..... including the 98's
there are things that the stock pcm is lacking...but it does just fine at making plenty of power.
of course, there are a lot of better options to make bigger power with, but they are not an absolute necessity

PCM limits you to 8000RPM. If you need more RPM
to make your power, that's a limitation. But you'd
be super high effort throughout, I think, to make
this be a problem.
The PCM is faster than many of the sensors it has
to rely upon (like the MAF).

sounds like they trying to make some extra money to me
I would personally steer clear of a shop with such business practices. It's one thing to recommend an upgrade on something that's barely able to keep up with your demands, but it's a completely different thing to recommend something purely out of profit for themselves where it's not even close to necessary for your application.

exactly
This. Sounds like they are just trying to push a big expensive aftermarket computer system for your car by scaring you into thinking that the stock PCM would not perform well.

Feel much better now,you know I try to keep as much money dealings local as possible to help local businesses stay around but hear something like this and it is discourging.
Started checking around and other complaints also.
