Default 2001 f body o.s. In a 2000 pcm

Hey guys, I just purchased a 2000 Formy Hawk and when I got it home I hooked up the scanner to find it read as a 2001 Camaro/Firebird. I looked at the PCM to see if it was a 411 and it is not.(forgot number) I am curious if a 2001 O.S. can be written to a 2000 PCM. I write 2001 O.S.'s to 2000 cars a lot for the PE rate table but I always swap to a 411 PCM. This allows me to run my cars all year with the better fueling tables and then upon inspection time I can just do a write entire with the 2000 O.S. and VIN. Am I waisting my time swapping to 411 PCM's for this?

yes.. 99-02 OS's can be written to any of the 99-02 pcms...

many people upgrade the 99 and 00 OS to a 2001 or newer as it has some added tables in the OS in 2001/2002

I have done the swap to the 411 pcm for the extra fueling tables. I just wasn't sure if you could just use the newer O.S. in the 99'-00' pcm. Is the 99'-00' PCM just as good once you write the newer O.S., or os the newer pcm faster?

theres no physical difference in the 99-02 pcm's

it doesnt care which years os you write to it...

all 99-02 fbody pcm's are the same. only differences were the OS written to them.

Thanks for the info. You learn something new every day, or at least I try to. I guess I can stop wasting my money buying 411 pcm's and licensing them. I have had a lot of fun learning this tuning stuff.
