I just bought a 2000 SS and one the third day this code started showing up. I know it could either be the charcoal canister or a few other things, but I was just wondering if maybe this has happened to anyone else and of this is a common issue out of the f-body? I can't stand to see a check engine light on even if it is something that doesn't affect the performance aspect. Help please!

446 is a performance code .... Can't vent fast enough ...saturated canister??
Vent valve not opening up all the way .....kinked or crushed line ....
Your just throwing parts at it unless you have a scan tool that can perform a purge /seal. Function .... And then you can watch the speed of decay when the vent is opened .......
Still kinda hard to dio unless you do it everyday .. And know what a normal spped of decay is .....
If anyone has a better answer please chime in

I agree with guilty. However I would suggest it's the vent valve that needs to be replaced. Generally the code gets set when the system detects an open or short in the control circuit for the vent valve.
I would look at that as suspect

Hey man thanks for the agree ...
But you guys are really killing me ....
This code does not set if their is a open short in the control circuit of the vent valve ... That would set a p0449. .....
....you guys really got to brush up on your evap diagnostics before chiming in ...
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum.
This is the key
"If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inches H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets."
