Default Beginner Tuner

I was wondering if anybody had a tune for a stock 1998 camaro m6? I have been reading some books and things on the internet, but I think if I looked at a tune for my car I could understand where you start to make changes. I imagine if you have a stock tune wouldn't have such huge changes as highly modified car, so it might help me understand the process.

What software do you have? Both HPT and EFI have repositories with a lot of stock tunes in them.

I have hptuners.

2xLS1 is correct. I wanted to see if anybody has a tune just to improve a stock 1998 camaro. I been reading about Fuel Trims and Timing I was going to start making some minor adjustments, but I think it would be helpful to review an experienced persons work before I go and do anything stupid.

No, That's the next thing on the list, right now the tranny is acting funny, so I am gonna pull it out tomorrow. I started messing with LTFT and some minor timing adjustments today; the car responded to it well.

Timing tables in the early ones are aggressive already, I wouldn't add any more. You can tweak the maf curve if needed to bring LTFT closer to zero (better to use a wideband though) and to bring your commanded and actual power enrichment fueling in line (wideband needed here). Then set power enrichment to 12.5:1 or so rather than the stock 11.something. And adjust tranny shift points, bring the fans on earlier, etc.

Have a look through the HPT tune repositary, although it's unlikely someone elses tune will work well for you. You can use the compare function to see what has been changed.

Personally I haven't but he's considered one of the best. I just read hptuners all the time. I found trying to tune my car way to challenging though. SD was kicking my **** during the summer trying to tune it due to heat soak. But I read something that may help called ECT vs IAT to help with this.

All I can recommend if you don't want to throw down all that money is read over this and search on hptuners (I used googles and put in hptuners then my search phrase) for anything you have a question about because most likely it's been asked before.

I started playing the ltft table and it got everything with +/- 5 away from zero. I also read online to bump your whole timing table up by 5 degrees, I did this and still didn't have any KR. I also have the fans turn on sooner; the car runs at about 200 Degrees all the time. Just these mods made some seat of the pants power. I am gonna leave it like this until I get a wideband.

If you bumped a stock 98 timing table up 5 degrees everywhere you'll have 32-33 degrees at WOT, too much. Those early tables are plenty stock. LS motors don't want or need much timing advance. Even if it's not pinging it will be on the edge and won't be making any more power.

I'll drop it down; I'm used to messing around with my big block which likes about 34-36
