Gen III Flex fuel Write-up
#27
Forgive me for my ignorance...
Let say I have a 1998 F-body
I was thinking of going to the 0411 PCM, (I believe my 98 PCM is bad)
I would need a 3 bar SD tune
I would LOVE to go flex fuel, since E85 is a little hard to find in Florida
-I would need to do a repin to the 0411/ Van PCM
- Wire in the Flex Fuel sensor
-Use the cargo Van PCM (12586243)??
-HP tuners has a bin file to do these things for the Van PCM??
-Do Massive burnouts

If you are going over 16psi then yes you would need the P59 PCM. That OS does support Flex Fuel but make sure the file has flex fuel enabled. Here's some threads with some good info.

You will find that you will not receive much help on this topic from members with the exception of a few:
Listen to Subeone. Do a search of his name, and see what he has said about the topic. I have a 1998 F-body and am currently doing the swap now. I had to do a repin to switch to the 99+ P01 PCM, then I plugged the P59 PCM into it. I still have to iron out the proper OS in order to get the Flex fuel sensor, 3 bar MAP sensor, and fuel gauge to work.
Bingmandengo also has been a huge help. He has the system running on his turbo LS buick right now.
We all want 3 bar SD tunes with flex fuel....its just a matter of time

Sounds like it plugs in. Might have to trim the the red sleeve on the harness to fit because it's keyed different. I believe you just cut the notches off the red sleeve. The p59 is keyed for a green sleeve. Or can find a green sleeve and swap it I guess too but trimming shouldn't be an issue.
Also, I'm trying to figure this out but the O2 sensors are wired slightly different afaik. One source I talked to says they hook up but throw an O2 heater fault code so may be just as simple as shutting off that code. I guess the f-body sensors are powered and grounded directly whereas as a P59 pcm supplies the heater ground.
Also you have to make sure the p59 pcm has an IAC driver if you want to use drive by cable. Sounds like not all of them are drive by cable capable.

I helped Corner Worker get his 98 F-body running tonight on an 05 p59 ecm. We should know soon if the p59 will fully integrate(gauges, ac, etc..) with an F-body.

As for AC, I was reading that the p59, as long as it has drive by cable capability, should be able to control AC as well. I guess when GM removed the drive by cable capability of their pcm they also removed the AC 12v control and converted to a serial controller. The serial controller won't work with an f body from what I have read.

I'd think you'd be able to direct wire the tach, speedo, oil pressure gauge and engine temp to the in dash gauges. Not sure on voltage and gas gauge yet. I haven't started my car yet but it's all direct wire in my car so far. Trying to figure out the pcm swap and should be able to start it up. Ordering one today.
