Hard start and randomly dies.
Hard start and randomly dies. I have had my 2000 T/A about 5 months. It runs fine usually. But now sometimes it wont start. I can hear the fuel pump prime, the motor turns over, but it wont start. After about 10-15 tries it will finally start. When it does it fires up like normal.
And each time after about 30 seconds it dies. Not like stalling out, but like I turned the key off. Then it will fire right back up and will be fine.
Last time it happened after searching I tried swapping relays with the ignition one. No change.
I dont think it is vats since it cranks and i get no security light.
Any ideas? Does this seem like crank position sensor?

I know when my cam position sensor went out it would crank and crank and crank. Every now and then it would hit and stumble but never really fire. Id be more interested to see what your fuel pressure is.
your delay start sounds like its not getting enough fuel pressure but eventually after continuing to crank it you build up enough pressure to fire but not sustain itself. Though it not choking out when it dies does suggest it might not be fuel related. there is a port on the fuel rail to plug in a fuel pressure gauge and I think I would start there before digging into sensors and such.

Haven't had a chance to pickup a fuel pressure gauge. But this morning it wouldn't start at first. When it did it was trying to die unless I gave it some gas, but I noticed that the tach wasn't moving.
From searching on here wouldn't that point to the crank position sensor?
