A theoretical sort of question, PE vs closed loop In looking at the open loop fueling and the
PE MAP enable, PE vs RPM tables, and the
FTC map boundaries, I see a fair bit of
overlap.
Now, this seems odd to me because closed
loop learning is (supposedly) inhibited when
the target A/F multipler is <>1.000. Though
I can't say I entirely believe this as when I
played with Predator power enrichment I did
see it affect some of the LTFTs. But anyway...
What possible benefit is there to having FTCs
which overlap, or are entirely covered by,
PE-active operation? Why would we not want
the uppermost FTC row, at most, to overlap PE
enabled MAP and the rightmost, the start of
meaningful PE vs RPM?
And what would be the purpose of having so
many unused (by high RPM boundary) FTCs?
I still have this itch to gerrymander the map
to make finer-grained, more cells in the sub-
PE MAP / RPM regions and fewer "wasted".
Thought being that this would make for better
fuel control by not having to be everything to
everyone.
