Default Car alarms

I'm not to sure if this is the right area to post this but will an aftermarket alarm system with key fob prevent my door from being opened with the old key fob.

It could, depending on how it was wired in. Does the alarm fob work on the door locks?

The alarm fob works on the door. But if I didn't want it to work is there to deactivate the fob or alarm system.

Probably not without wiring, or rewiring I should say.

It's a 2000 z28. So I talked to a few people who worked with stereo stuff and alarms. They said I might need to get the alarm reprogrammed to eliminate the key fob from locking/unlocking the door. I'm not sure if that is sometging I can do or if it's a dealership thing. Do you this think it's a dealership project or can I do this myself?

Correct you would need to get it programmed out and that would have to be done by the dealership.

Anytime at all and good luck. No factory chipped keys/anti-theft so it should work mint.
