Default Gen 4 ECM Quick Question

I am trying to diagnose a computer issue in a 2007 NNBS silverado. The truck will power up a diagnostic scanner but will not talk to it. Even my HP tuner software won't talk to it. I am wondering if I can switch the computer with another 2007 NNBS Silverado ECM to diagnose whether it is the harness or the computer? Thanks in advance and please excuse my ignorance I am used to gen3 stuff.

The ECU doesn't give power to the scanner. The OBD-II plug has a constant 12v power source going to it that gives it power.

To answer your question, yes you can plug in another ECU. I wouldn't try to run the truck with it, but you can at least do this to connect HPT or a scanner to it.

Sweet. I do it with the gen 3 ECM's a lot. I was hoping the gen 4's were the same.

You can hook the ECM to another vehicle of the same type and test it, nothing will happen to either, I do it all the time.
