Hi guys, just joined after getting no help from people on CorvetteForum...my car just started making this noise and after taking it to a speed shop, they said it was a spun bearing after finding metal flakes in my oil. Pull your valve covers, look at all of the springs and remove all of the rocker arms and check the trunnion bearings. That is the easy place to start before you pull the engine. Revving it is not good either.

^^ Keep revving it, and a new engine could be on your Christmas wish list...
It's wounded. As mentioned, start w/ the top end and work your way down.
My guess: The lower end is fubar. A broken valve spring won't be a source of a filter full of metal.
The "speed shop" diagnosis is likely accurate.
