im with truckdoug on that one. but then again think of it like this. when you guys are devolping ways to reengineer something that the engineers made not defeatable for most average joes, you win. you'll always be a winner to me. unless of course you decide to start a corporation called average joe technologies and reengineering services lol

instead of jumping through the hoops to get this option to work for me, wouldnt it make more sense for someone in my situation to try that android elm read/write you developed?

You'll still need a program to change the actual tune file.

stop me if im retarded here: i just searched google for "run windows on android" and all kinds of developement has been done there. something called wine was developed by gamers to do linux blah blah blah. enough to make me dizzy trying to comprehend it anyways. just curious if someone more tech savy than myself has the ability to try running tunerpro this way; windows via android...? the other day i was able to download tunerpro to my phone and transfer it to a 15 year old computer with less computing power than my galaxy s7 so why the heck couldnt this work?

well im not going to get my hopes up with that idea either... i just watched some youtube stuff on windows on android and that wine 3.0 thing looks like it has a hard time running even simple exe. files. its basically in developemental stages and im sure it would take a serious tech guru to figure much of anything out with it.

I've been down that road and it's a LONG ways from being workable. I'm betting we get Windows on ARM cpu's before WINE gets working correctly. If and when they release an ARM based windows it means you could due boot an Android device with a real version of windows.......but there's no telling what programs would work on it.

There is an Android version of something much like Tuner Pro that an individual oversea's created but is not in any way endorsed by Tuner Pro. The UI looks similar and it does use Xdf files. It's targeted at OBD 1 stuff and I don't have any idea if you could use LS bin files or ls XDF's with it but I'm sure you could email the author and have them find out if it'd work or not. The draw back is it's not free....it's around $20 US depending on the exchange rates so the price varies day to day.

lol. yeah i have yet to find what he is talking about. could be something an aussie developed if you put holden in mind?? at least all you would have to translate there is their accent haha. id be leary tho. i like the fact the author of tunerpro lists on his site the tens of thousands hours of devolping/bug fixes/updating. if i get the hang of it im going to invest in the datalogging version with more features i think.

Default P3-B+ & Tuner Pro

Hi Pete, I am making 2000+ 27SF512 MemCal's for the GM OBD-I PCM (USPS Order).

I use Tuner Pro AND will use the Same GUI Platform for MY P3. (Modified)

I have the GM CAN 2.0B (50K $$$) specs.

If anyone out already has an AllPro interface (USB version) or an ObdLink Scantool SX, and a '411 PCM, and wants to try to read the .bin file from your PCM, send me a PM. I'd like to get confirmation from a few people that this stuff really works before I post the link.

Thanks!

Okay then, let's make this official.

Download the ZIP file here: https://github.com/LegacyNsfw/PcmHac.../tag/PcmHammer

Unzip the contents into an empty directory, run PcmHammer.exe, select your device type, and have fun.

I'd love to hear what works and what doesn't. So far, results have been positive, except for one user who ran into this error message when trying to read:

[10:32:32:145] Permission to upload kernel was denied.

I've seen that in my car once in a while and I don't recall what made it go away, but I think the solution might just have been turning off the car for a few seconds and then starting over.

I've registered to give some serious thanks to the guys behind this tool. I've been researching open source tuning for a little bit now, to get a friend's turbo GMC 1500 up and running and this is AWESOME. I'll be ordering a dongle tonight and hopefully be bench reading by the weekend (the local pick-n-pull sells PCMs cheap). I'll contribute any bugs I encounter .

BIG thanks to everyone on this project!

This is very interesting.
I am wondering; which version of windows is necessary? I have an old XP laptop that I use for programming VHF radios in my truck. Is that enough?
And is there a Linux version available, and is the USB cable compatible with that operating system?

windows 7 is probably the best bet, but if you have an x64 version of xp I'm sure you can find plug ins and patches to make it work

There was a guy working on a command-line version for Linux, but he ran into some headaches with his employer and had to revert his changes (he was just getting started so it's not tragic, just disappointing). So, Linux won't work today but it's not out of the question for the future. Then again you could try running it under Wine... let us know how that works for you.

I've only been testing with Windows 10, just because that's all I have, but I expect that it will work on Windows 7 or 8. The app doesn't need any recent OS features.

I have no idea about XP though. That might work, might not.

For running Windows on linux, don't bother with Wine, use Virtualbox. It's also free.
