Inexpensive Opensource Flashing(Read is 100% working)

There's now a "Write OS and Calibration" button that replaces everything but the parameter blocks, which is useful if you want to update the operating system in your vehicle. Leaving the parameter blocks unchanged means the PCM will still be recognized by the other devices in your car.
If you want to replace your PCM, do a full read from the current/old PCM, then "Write OS and Calibration" then "Write Parameters (Clone)" to the new PCM. The entire flash memory of the new PCM will then be completely identical to that of the old PCM.

The AVT and J2534 are the only tools I would currently suggest but neither of them is all that cheap. The OBDLink tools do work but they are VERY slow, so unless your desperate for something right now.... holding off for the release of the Allpro replacement would be your best bet for an inexpensive tool at this time.

Correction... I'm a low budget mechanic that doesn't ask a customer if they want lube or no lube.. lmfao

And even if there isn't, there's still a good chance that you can install a different OS on it that does have an XDF available.
Unless there is a way to read the OS number with the ELM327??
Oh, I forgot to mention that my ELM327 has only read the wifes Grand Prix so far, it hasn't read the truck yet for some reason..

You should be fine with the VCX Nano, and if you do run into trouble we'll work on that. I haven't used one personally yet but it supports the J2534 standard so it should work. And the price is right.
So: Scott tested my AllPro cable and found it to work just the same as his, so that problem seems to be something in the setup of my tuning laptop I would think. At least my problems showed up after the last cables were made, I'd hate to think it contributed to their demise. Anyway that's an issue I can pursue eventually perhaps. I'd like to try one of Pete's adapters once they are ready, in the meantime I have the OBD-link. Why it works and the AllPro doesn't, I haven't much of a clue.
I do have a couple of rather OT questions if they don't create too much of a distraction. First, what's the best approach to enable my 2 bar MAP sensor for low level boost? (5-6 lbs) And secondly, what are the guys doing about the difference in the firing order between early SBC engines (18436572) and LS engines (18726543)? I just found this article so I may have answered my own question. I'll be studying that later today:
https://www.lsenginediy.com/gm-gen-i...-firing-order/
But if anyone has something to add I'd appreciate it. I particularly figured you guys would be on top of the boost situation. I expect it's still pretty murky.
I'm in the midst of wiring up the injectors, coils, and sensor leads and hope to be able to begin testing in a few weeks. I found some great 2 and 3 conductor teflon insulated shielded cables that are small in size, I can post more info on that if y'all want it. Keep up the good work, you guys are great!
Jim
I understand it's low but for the price, I'm ok.
Thanks.
