New LS3 6L80 install
Hello. I have a brand new LS3 495hp crate engine in front of a brand new 6l80. They are going into a 201 Miata. Took my harness vendor a couple tries to marry the E38 (2010-up) to the tcm (T43). Evidently new transmissions from GM don't have an OS in the tcm. Engine is up and running. Trans has been filled per procedure. When I scan with HP tuners for gear position I see park and invalid only. Trans related codes are P0700, PO722, P1915 and P057C. I know what they are are and what they mean but where do I start to rectify them? Has anyone got this combination up and running from a clean slate? Thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you take the vehicle to a GM dealership, pay them the $145 they charge, and allow them to flash the TCM. I own a transmission shop. We do a lot of 6L80E's, and 6L90E's that we purchase directly from GM, install them, and then take the vehicle back to them for flashing the TCM. No problems doing it this way. I previously tried 3 different "mobile tuners" that said they were able to flash the TCM's.. Had problems with every single one of them. I don't know what the trick, or secret, is but we have had 100% success allowing GM to flash them.
When you get it resolved, please post back and tell us what you ended up doing. It may help someone else in the future if they have the same, or similar, problem.

It's a new 2014 6l80e behind a new 495hp LS3. I was hoping to use 2014 Camaro SS OS in both the E38 and TCM. Am I out in left field? I have eliminated the P1915 code. I didn't engage the tab in the gear change mechanism properly when i reinstalled the tcm. Now My gear out put on the scan tool is registering the various gear position when I move the shifter. I'm in the process of refilling the trans. I also checked output sensor connections while I was in there and it is engaged properly. Hoping the rest can be done with tuning. BTW, my GM dealer wants nothing to do with swapped vehicles.

I have the transmission up and working. After fixing the internal linkage problem, bringing the fluid up to the proper level and clearing some codes I have the proper output on the Miata dash and on the HP Tuners scanner and the transmission goes through the gears. Thanks all for the input. Everything I needed was already in the pcm/tcm. It was just a matter of working through the bugs. I'll let my tuners take it from here.
