first go around with the new one, helping a local tune his cammed 2003 5.3/60e p59 computer.
very glitchy about write calibrations, only working every 3rd try. disabling high speed seemed to help.
then it wouldnt read or write at all. no scanner connectivity.
even tried to hook up my old school mpvi interface and it could not scan or read
any write calibrate or entire gives the following error : unlocker timed out
anyone else having these problems?

Interesting...
I was thinking about upgrading when it first came out but I was having a difficult time justifying the cost when none of the new features benefit what I do. I'm a Gen III / IV guy and don't mess with Gen V stuff at all. Plus having been part of the beta test group for various iterations of their and other people's software I thought I better wait until it had been on the streets for a bit.

I have issues like tht on trucks with bad wiring or has been tuned before.
Usually on the bench barness they work fine. This is one of the reasons i havnt purchased the mpvi2. Still hearing about issues with it.

damn near a bone stock rig. just a performabuilt 60e with a yank stall and a mild cam with springs. 100% untouched wiring.
also I should note: after the computer write fails it quit cranking. Key on, engine off the fuel pump primes. No crank. Fuel gauge quit and the electronic dash would not register a gear on the led PRNDL display.
and yes I keep reading about others having problems with the mpvi2 ...on facebook, YB, instagram you name it.
how the hell can they release something so buggy?

I had one not connect, and I caught a glimpse like it was trying to dial home. Set my phone to mobile hot spot, got laptop connected to internet, and it started working.

haha damn the HPT forums are lit up with pissed off people. Dead cars on the dyno, bricked PCMs you name it.
pretty sure the guy i'm helping out has a bricked pcm. sucks b/c I dont have another p59 on hand to help him.
also I can't seem to find the repository. The are multiple posts of Bill@HPT saying its gone, but I have spoken with some tuners that say it's still there but you need special access?
wtf?

I'm new to tuning but I noticed yesterday that if the VCM scanner is connected to the PCM then the Editor can't/won't write. It may have always been that way, I don't know. I know that the tune repository is still there you need to go to HPTuners main page then my accounts, log in and it will show on the left side of the screen.

I haven't been in the repository in a long time. The whole website changed so i can't get in to repository. I had to make a new account and then to use the repository you need to enter your serial # and application key for your device before you can look at the repository. I don't have either with me now so i will have to check later.

I'm new with HPT and couldn't decide between the MVPI or the MPVI2. What steered me to the older interface was the new one didn't have the Pro software or the docking module needed for data logging available as of yet. After reading story after story post after post on MVPI2 issues, I'm glad I chose the older unit.
Yeah you have to be logged in to see the repository.

So if you buy HPT package today, it comes with the mpvi2?
that would be nuts.
my orig mpvi Pro is now 6 years old and still works perfect. And, I can log my analog out AFX/Balanger widebands of which I have 3 of.

update, the guy I've been helping with his p59 tune is now overnighting the interface back to hptuners to be repaired. no word as to whether it will get his pcm out of boot loop.
HPT has no more MPVI1's they are discontinued. We just use serial widebands or the AEM ODB2 one for newer can based cars.

a word to those who must return their interfaces for repair. the squeaky wheel gets the grease. my customer is was told he'd get one day air, both ways. apparently that was not set in stone and they have it coming back via ground so he's without his truck until probably early next week (eta 9-10-18)
be adamant about one day air, and keep pumping the emails to the service dept. about it.
not doubt this is painful and embarrassing to HPT, but they can recover a lot of good will by doing the right thing.
Bill if you still read these forums from time to time, we know you gotta make a buck, but it's us LS1 guys who built your company.
