It has always been my opinion that an adapter of some type that mounts or plugs directly onto the 411 PCM and that the stock 98 harness plugs into directly is the way too go. This solution eliminates messing with and perhaps damaging the very brittle 98 harness that is now 20 years old.

Simple - indeed - if you have found a way. I have searched for hours and days, but have never found the plug to accomplish that method.

Finally - after all of these years waiting. Hope that you move forward with this project.

If there is some assurance of getting into the first group and also getting money back if the project fails - would be willing to make a deposit.
It's hard to make an adapter like this that looks "nice" but they can be made and do work just fine. I need a way to swap between the 96/97 and the 98/99/00 Black box PCM's as well as the P01 and P59 LS computers for development on an data bus interface I was working on a couple of years ago so I made up a few different versions I could swap between depending on what PCM I was working with.

No deposit needed, its being made and will be tested in a actual vehicle before being released to the public. Its not a question if it will work, the process, parts, and technology have already been made and used in another very similar application. Its just a matter of getting cost down enough and having time to put it in a vehicle to make sure nothing needs to be tweaked.

So after seeing the response you have so far on this thread, Is there a way the participants of this thread can be notified that you have a finished product for sale?
I certainly don't want to miss out on this one and be waiting for a back order because of the great time savings this can create for us end users!!
Nor do I want to be a pest by asking weekly!!

AEM did a upgraded pcm some years ago where they replaced the guts of the 411 with a more user friendly capable pcm. It was a decent plug and play unit. I wish something like that was still on the market.

All the parts and tooling are done for the most part since the same process was done with another pcm already. Its just been a time issue, all of us are super busy so these side projects move slower than we want sometimes unfortunately. Its also not going to be a huge money maker or anything so its hard to put a ton of resources on it (which would make it faster) because that would drive the cost up to much.

Hell yea.....take some deposits to maybe gauge how many actual buyers are out there. Could help move the process along too. I know there are quite a few at the end if functional rope on the 0411. Not to mention the additional tuning options/custom os would no doubt make tuning easier than the oe stuff for the end user.

Would be great for swaps to.

is the 98 pcm really that different? i swapped a 0411 into my 97 NPR and was driving down the road in like 2 hours and the harness was even all the wrong colors from GM.
this does sound like a cool project though, custom pcbs to make stuff do what is wasnt designed for is fun for me.
